About the Center

Cerebrovascular diseases (stroke, cerebral aneurysm and cerebral hemorrhage) mark the second greatest cause of death in Korea following cancer. Patients who survived such diseases often suffer from severe aftereffects, including paralysis and coma. As these diseases are increasingly common in economically active age groups, they cause tremendous loss in patients, their families and societies. Cerebrovascular diseases are expected to be on a steeper increase in the years to come as the aging process accelerates.

Kwandong University Myongji Hospital has played a leadership role in prevention, early detection and treatment of cerebrovascular diseases proven by excellent clinical achievements at its Stroke Center and Stroke Intensive Care Unit, the first of the kind in the Northwest region of Gyeonggi Province. Building on its success, the hospital opened Neurovascular Center offering clinical excellence from the best faculty and the latest technologies.

The Center’s cutting-edge Neurosurgery Hybrid Suite is a multi-purpose, multi-function specialized facility that integrates neurosurgery operating theater, cerebral angiography room with bi-plane angiography equipment and MR system. It offers the best possible care to acute neurovascular patients by providing quick and precise examinations, operations and treatment.

The Center also incorporated GE Asia Pacific Neurointervention Training Center. This is the first training center supported by GE outside Europe and America.

Myongji Hospital Neurointervention Center is dedicated to reducing time taken to diagnose and treat while improving quality of care by operating 24/7 emergency service system as well as the multidisciplinary team of best professors from Stroke Center, Emergency Medicine, Radiology, Neurosurgery, Neurology and Rehabilitation Department.
